Volvo Group China Held its 30th Anniversary Kick-off Event on-line On April 22, Volvo Group China held a virtual event to commemorate its 30th Anniversary in China. More than 1,000 Volvo Group China employees and representatives from local dealers, customers and partners gathered online to look back on this remarkable journey together. In this event, Jan Gurander (Deputy CEO of Volvo Group), Ma Jun (President of Volvo (China) Investment Co., Ltd.) and BA/TD heads in China reviewed Volvo Group China’s 30-year journey while sharing their vision for the future. Representatives from government and academia were also invited to share their cherished memories with Volvo Group China over the years. Plants and Offices of Volvo Group in Shanghai Steadily Resumed Production and Work On April 18, after the Shanghai government issued guidelines on the resumption of production, plants and offices of Volvo Group at the Shanghai site have successively begun to get ready for the production and work to restart. On April 28, the Volvo CE plant was approved to restart production as one of the 2nd-batch enterprises on the "white list". On May 11, the first EC500 was successfully rolled off the production line. On April 29, Volvo Penta plant was approved to resume production, and all returning employees participated in the management meeting for the closed-loop production on May 5. In the meantime, GTO has also swiftly formulated a thorough plan to resume operation, contributing to the production capacity recovery of the Volvo Group in China. |

Ma Jun Attended the Conference on the 70th Anniversary of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) On May 18 and 19, Ms. Ma Jun, President of Volvo (China) Investment Co., Ltd., attended the Conference on the 70th Anniversary of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) held at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse as well as a more exclusive face-to-face roundtable briefing hosted by Premier Li Keqiang and Vice Premier Hu Chunhua with other 20 foreign business group leaders in person. Many international leaders and experts have expressed their concerns over the COVID pandemic and its effect on global trade. But they've also voiced confidence in working together for global economic recovery. |
Volvo CE Held an Online Event to Celebrate its 20th Year in China on "525 Volvo Day" On May 25, Volvo CE China launched a marketing and sales event online to celebrate its 20th Anniversary, which is an important milestone. At the event, Volvo CE unveiled new products and service solutions to customers, including brand new electromobility products, EC500 (Hammer) & EC550 (Hammer), upgraded service offering and PSR solutions. The online event also successfully garnered a total page view of 567K and secured 308 units deposit. This event was a result of successful teamwork, showcasing the agility and resilience of Volvo CE China's cross-functional teams to work together despite the disruptions brought about by the Covid lockdown in Shanghai. Volvo Trucks FH I-SAVE Launch Ceremony Successfully Staged in China On April 28, Volvo Trucks FH I-SAVE Launch Ceremony was successfully held online in China, with more than 2M views in total. Under the theme of "每一程 致梦想", this launch ceremony was comprised of various sessions, such as an online seminar with industry experts on China's commercial vehicle development path toward "low-carbon, intelligence, lightweight", launch moment, technical and total offer interpretation in multimedia mode, truckers online interview, and interactive lucky draw. Volvo CE China Operation Won the Volvo Group Health & Safety Award 2021
On April 28, Volvo CE China Operation won the Volvo Group Health & Safety Award 2021 in Category 1 - Contribution/ Volvo CE China Operation's Safety Month Event, held every June ever since 2012, is dedicated to employees to enrich their knowledge, skills and awareness regarding health and safety through a various panel of activities, and it has even been used as a benchmark safety activity by local governments. The jury highlighted that the 10 years' perseverance from the Volvo CE China Operation on promoting the right mindset and culture has generated remarkable safety records, with nearly 3000 safety days in Shanghai plant and over 1000 days in Linyi. Volvo Trucks's Marketing Automation Tool Goes Live in China Market To enlarge customer base and boost sales leads, a new Marketing Automation(MA) tool of Volvo Trucks China went live in April.
The MA tool can facilitate the processing of huge amount of sales leads and performance reviews by automatically distributing leads and validating enterprise info, help manage retail activity among dealers via real-time info sharing, and also offer effective data-based business intelligence services to support business in identifying new opportunities and make tactical plans.

Volvo CE China "Change Starts Here" Campaign Kicked off in May On May 1, the campaign "Change starts here" was successfully launched, and it kicked off the communication of Volvo CE e-mobility models in China market. The key messages focused on the versatile and sustainable solution, quiet, emission-free operation and machines built for customer success. Through SoMe channels, Volvoce.com, APP, trade media platform and live stream, the messages and the value of Volvo CE e-mobility models were clearly conveyed to a variety of audiences. Customers can also reserve the machine trial now. |
Volvo Penta China Wechat Mini Program Added Fault Code Query Function In order to improve the uptime of customers' equipment, Volvo Penta China launches a fault code query function on its WeChat Mini Program. It provides a query platform for the fault codes that may appear in the engine. Customers can check the fault by themselves in an easier way and arrange follow-up services reasonably. This new function can increase the diagnosis efficiency & one-time repair success rate and reduce repeated customer communication for OEM partners. Employees/ family members/ partners/ etc will be invited to exchange their views on work and life in the Podcast, looking back on their past growth and stories with Volvo. A series of audios will be gradually released from June 2022. On June 10, the first episode 《前浪与后浪》 was released internally and externally, featuring 5 colleagues from different TD/BA/GFs of Volvo Group China to meet in the "cloud" and talk about their experience and insights of their working lives. Dongfeng KX "Smart Hub" Has Been Put into Operation More than 100 Dongfeng Tianlong KX smart heavy-duty trucks, equipped with the full-stack self-developed Xuanyuan autonomous driving system of Inceptio Technology, have been put into operation in 7 domestic leading logistics and cargo owners, and the commercialized operation mileage of autonomous driving has exceeded 2 million kilometers, leading the autonomous-driving heavy-duty truck industry. Up to now, Tianlong KX smart heavy-duty truck has maintained zero accidents, and the number of collision warnings per thousand kilometers is 40% lower than that of manual driving. In a single transportation task with an average distance of 800-1000 kilometers, the mileage of the autonomous driving system accounts for more than 90%. |

Volvo Group Shanghai Employees Received "Care Packages" from the Company during the Covid Lockdown To deliver the desperately-needed food and daily necessities to employees during the Covid lockdown in Shanghai, Volvo Group China People&Culture, GTP SD&I China, Logistics teams and Labor Unions at the Shanghai site urgently coordinated the supply resources and provided “Care Packages" for employees in Shanghai. The packages were distributed in batches. Upon receiving them, employees arranged the items in the shape of "Volvo" or “heart” to convey gratitude and solidarity. GTP China - Keeping Energy up during the Shanghai Quarantine This spring has been challenging for GTP Shanghai employees due to the new wave of Covid outbreaks. GTP Shanghai team well handled the challenges of the "new normal", kept a high level of energy and also stayed connected in different ways, such as Virtual Fika, volunteering in community, etc. In parallel, everyone also kept delivering on business aspects, such as mitigating the supply risk from suppliers to our plant, conducting the virtual audit with suppliers through IT tools, etc. The GTP China team also recorded a song "Tomorrow will be better" online to commemorate this forgettable time and encourage each other. |
After-work Activities of Volvo CE Shanghai Plant in the Closed-loop during the Pandemic Despite the Covid lockdown in Shanghai, Volvo CE Shanghai plant was approved to resume production in a closed-loop on April 28. The plant formulated a comprehensive production plan and also held rich after-work activities to boost the physical and psychological well-being of the employees. Since production was restarted on May 5, many leisurely activities have been organized, such as "Workout Together", movie nights, lawn birthday parties, health lectures and others. Volvo Trucks China Provided Physical and Mental Care for Employees during the Pandemic To further help Shanghai employees of Volvo Trucks access daily necessities and food supplies during the lockdown, Volvo Trucks China delivered a wide variety of supply packages to every employee and their families, including vegetables, meat and other essential supplies. In addition, the People&Culture team of Volvo Trucks China also provided its employees with mental health support to help them release anxiety during the lockdown. The Initiative of Volvo Financial Services China: 8-Hour Working from Home During the Pandemic In May, all VFS employees had to work from home due to the stringent anti-Covid control measures. In response to this, VFS China launched an initiative of "8-hour working from home (疫想不到居家办公8小时)" to mobilize employees to balance life and work and improve efficiency during the special period. Employees shared their tips on staying focused, connected and efficient while working online, how to juggle between work and family, how to cope with stress and uncertainty through fitness exercise, etc. The tips help VFS employees better manage their daily work and achieve good business outcomes when working from home. |
JTC Celebrated the World Environment Day with a Series of Activities To celebrate the World Environment Day on June 5 and showcase our care for the environment and sustainability, JTC held a series of activities under the theme of "Low-Carbon Life For a Better Ecology (关注生态,低碳生活)" from May 26 to June 5, featuring handmade artworks and paintings related to environmental protection, environmental protection knowledge sharing, life knowledge sharing, etc. As part of the initiatives put forward, employees were encouraged to turn off the idle power after work, share their own recycling stories of turning waste into treasure or any other efforts made for the sake of environment, etc. |
JTC Book Club 1st Anniversary - Reading Makes a Full Man Reading expands horizon and boosts competence. To get more colleagues to start reading and celebrate the first anniversary of JTC Book Club, online reading sharing with the theme of "Reading Hours During the Pandemic (书香战疫,以读攻毒)" was held on the World Book and Copyright Day on April 23.
